have no clue where i seen it, lol. no clue who made it either.

You can fill as those seams up. Fairly easily. The only fiberglasss lids I know of are pin on, and really look like crap lol

a skim coat of filler (usually mixed with honey to smooth it out)..its your last layer before priming

sidenote: in all reality - monkey knows more about glass than i do

monkey knows about glassing? dude i prolly f/g'd more shit than anyone on here, lolol. i just dont know how to do it on an exterior w/o the shrinkage.

so it's all about layers? your opinion? body filler likes to fn shrink. so the seems around the plate area would prolly show up later.

monkey works with fiberglass all day..i only work with it a couple times a month

im not 100% which lines youre talking about but yeah theyll come back..throw 3 layers on and it should be fine tho....just be careful not to change the lines without realizing it

Tony, I build million dollar yachts for a living lol. Silly goose :)

I would personally use a flexible filler or something like Akemi that doesn't shrink. I've actually seen a write up on cleaning all those seams up, I'll see if I can find it.

Jeff (Dalamar) filled in the seams on his trunk lid. He should be able to tell you what they used to do it.

Also, if you were going for the completely smooth look without the plate area you could remove the bezel in the area and weld in a flat piece of sheet metal (with rienforcement) to eliminate the license plate area. It would take some shaping but it would work I think.

Here's a pic of Jeff's car for reference:

arent the 94-98 trunk lids metal? Id just weld in some patches and then do your body work over that. Im a welder at a hot rod shop so Im all about playing with metal lol

Yea that's a good idea steveo . I now wanna try this with a spare trunk lid to see what my opinion is on the look because a lot of stuff is shaved already on my car

most people would mig it tho and it warps much more than tig

Yea most people dont understand heat distortion and weld like cavemen with a MIG torch in their hand. After welding on 80 year old paper thin sheetmetal, you kinda get used to welding slowly and cooling as you go lol

i like the shaved plate bezel but not enough to do it on my car

agreed..but there's a lot of people that dont have much welding experience and would end up warping the snots out of it..then trying to fix it with filler..making it worse..then give up and just spray it anyways......im just putting this out there for the people with lesser fab skills to be aware of

I shaved mine, fiberglass, and a thin layer of filler, I also opted to by a letter-less rear bumper to really clean up the rear, oh and I got rid of the key hole also
