Finished Fuel Pump - New Problem

Well the tank is down and I'm at the point where I have to disconnect the fuel lines to get the tank the rest of the way down. Well it's so rusty and everything the fuel line disconnect tool i was using is not doing the trick. I push it in as hard as i can and the damn line still won't disconnect. Am I doing it right? Does anyone have any ways to make it work?

Also now that I see the condition of the fuel pump assembly I am considering buying a replacement. Does anyone know a place that sells the fuel pump assembly and possibly the sending unit for a decent price? Thanks in advance!

I just bought the Ford Racing 190lb assembly from Summit. I used a small screwdriver inside the connector to push the little tabs back. My fuel line tool wouldnt fit between the lines.

make sure your using the right size tool, and if its rusted, shoot a tick of wd-40 or whatnot in the line connector to help free it up.. also try turning the connector back and forth, push back and forth on it while sticking the disconnect tool in... just fiddle with it, it will come out

you can get PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench i never had any luck with WD40 breakin rust in a reasonable time. and yes make sure your tool is the right size, also you can fabricate a tool out of a funnel tip. thats what i did. and it wont damage anything.

Just finished installing the Walbro 255 pump. Today I put 10 gallons in the tank and then i noticed gas leaking out all down the tank in a continuous stream. I assume the seal around the sending unit is ****ing leaking like a son of a bitch. Was i supposed to put anything on the god damn seal?

Yes you should have put a new gasket between the sending unit and the tank....also check the "grommet style" gasket where the filler neck goes into the tank, "I had this problem". Only Ford carries this part, but they should keep them in stock because this is a common problem....If it is you will have to do the same steps that you did to do the fuel pump, except disconecting the lines...and while you are up there check the sending unit for the pump and Gasket, and make sure all is snug....Good Luck!

PB blaster was my best friend when I swapped motors.

I hate having to go back and fix shit that you should have done right the first time... I did a little exhuast adjustment the other day, and had to unplug the 02 sensor, so i get up the next day get on the road to work and my Check engine light flips on, then it hits me... i gotta pick this piece of shit back up and plug the 02 back in. :slap:

That happened to me after the motor swap. I plugged mine in but didn't tighten it all the way.. I kept hearing this rattling from the exhaust and couldn't figure it out..finally i got under there and realized what I forgot to do :comando:

i did use a new gasket. I got a new filler neck grommet from 50resto and that seems to be fine.

I also hate redoing shit that i already did once, especially when I didn't do anything wrong and it still messes up...

Just do what i do... kick the shit out of the rear bumper... it always makes me feel better
