incidentally, is it safe to leave these sort of extinguishers in a hot car like a daily driver often is while left in a parking lot etc?

Do you already have the fire extinguisher?

When I bought mine, I got one that came with a mount already.

Mine car sits in the sun alot, but my extinguisher is in the trunk so it never really gets hot.

Modern fire extinguishers have relief valves and they don't blow up, they'd just leak if they got too hot. It will be fine. They can withstand 130+ degrees without anything happening.

^ Please tell me that was a typo.

I forget now exactly how much I paid for mine, but it was only like $30 or $40. And it came with the mobile mounting bracket too.

hahaha yeah it is a lot! thanks for not making me feel like such a cheap bastard. i thought the bracket was really sharp looking though and i liked it being quick release so i was thinking of breaking down and spending the 150 for the spiffy bracket and then getting some cheaper extenguisher
