trunk is too far away imo. In my stereo build I will be making a mount for it on the back of the consol. There looks to be just enough space back there that you could mount a small one to it, have it out of the way yet easy to grab at the same time.

if your talking about those little ones that ricers put on their a-pillars, then don't bother. they do not have enough capacity to put out any kind of actual fire.

I have a fire bottle with 2 spray nozzles in the back passenger seat area. The pull is in the center console, you could do one of those trunk mount. Just make sure you get one that can withstand low temperatures.

What are you adding one for? Just incase? Yea, the little chrome ricer jobs are worthless for actual use, but the big ABC bottles are hard to hide/install in a street car.

There is a Mustang club around here that requires fire extinguishers for all car show entries, the stupid part is they require them shown at the front of the car so most guys go pick up a Kidde cheap at HD and either wedge it under the tire or stand it up next to it

Why bother with requiring an extinguisher for a show then not letting people custom mount them? In my opinion all they are asking for is people to forget they are there and drive over them

The little fire extiguisher you see mounted on the A pillars are very functional and will probably need about 10 of them to put out a fire..

if you want it to be fully functional get a 10lb ABC fire extiguisher.

What are you gonna do if your gas tank catches on fire OR someone else needs your help?

By the time you stop and open your trunk a car can explode.

Id suggest to keep it inside the car even if its just laying in behind the driver seat as you can easily get it out, passenger side aswell or for those with rear seas delete, they could mount it there.

<--- Worked for 4 years servicing, selling fire extiguishers and installing fire supression systems.

Well mine is in the trunk because it is a big one and I don't want to worry about a large, heavy fire extinguisher turning into a missile should I slam on my brakes or get into a wreck.

I'll continue to take my chances with it in the trunk, although I am admittedly sacrificing some time that it would take me to get to it in an emergency.

I agree that the trunk is too far away... and is kind of pointless IMO. It will take too long to get at and what if you get into a crash and can't get out... I'm not sure what some of you are talking about with the pillar fire extinguisher, but i'm assuming that would be a little tiny one. I'm looking for one that will actually be useful.

Looking into mounting one in the car within arm reach. I think the local race tracks may require me to do some fire proofing. Even if they don't it would be a good idea to have one while racing and for "just in case".

They are not made to put out a forest fire if your car is too the point it needs a big one, your too damn slow. Most fires start small and I have seen the little ones used to snuff a fire which is why you need it close and easy to grab. I am 37 and I can think of 4 vehicle fires I happened upon just driving down the road. 1 of them started in the back of a pick up that was hauling some junk and they were able to pull out and snuff it with a small on, the other 3 were big enough that you would not be able to stand close enough to put them out with any ext. I am not sure why anyone would not want AT LEAST a small one. Have you considered the idea that you are driving around sitting on top of a fuel cell and the potential energy that it holds? If you were working somewhere industrial and regulated you would be required to keep fire ext anywhere fuel is kept even in 10 gallon quantities, what excuse do you use to say you don't need one in your car driving surrounded by the morons I see on the roads?

Like I said above if you guys look at that useless space directly behind the consol on the tranny hump I looked at mine the other day and noticed it was perfect. It could rest on the floor for support, and then mount the strap/mount to the back of the consol with some short screws. It was back out of the way were you will not hit it but sticks up just enough that you can easily grab it from the drivers seat, with the belt still on. Perfect place imo.

Another point you need to consider about the big ones is they need a super solid mount as heavy as they are. I mean you just leave it rolling around the trunk and rear end someone and it might end up in the passenger seat next too you.

Why not mount it on the back of one of the fold down portions of the rear seats? That way instead of having to walk around and open the trunk you just have to reach back and pull the seat down, grab it, and go to work.

If you have a system this may not work, but otherwise I think it would be a great way to not only hide it from sight and keep it from rolling around in the floor. Also It should be close enough to grab quickly.

I use my rear seats often, so the only place for mine is the trunk. I should probably start having fire drills to see how fast I can get it out of the trunk.

Come on yall know all my friends always want to ride in the blown cobra! I always have 3 passengers when my buddies and I go out. If I only wanted to use the front 2 seats I should have bought a darn corvette.

not sure how on the back of teh consol would be too much trouble but I have only had passengers in the back 4 times since the car was new.
