Firejacket for aftermarket FI (<14.00)???

Bad habit, getting ready for my first run at the track before I even have the car (leaning heavily towards a 96 GT with a procharger), and I find this out...apparently, NHRA guidelines changed in 2006 to require a fire jacket for any car running 13.99 or faster equipped with aftermarket FI. That royally sucks. If any place, I would imagine Speedworld (in Phoenix) would shirk that sort of rule, but I don't want to show up and be turned away, so I started looking.

This would be completely badass, since the car is blue, and it's got a stallion for a logo.

But then I read that it has to be SFI approved, so this is what I found:

Any body else deal with this BS? I'd really rather not spend $40+ on something like this...granted, I spent close to $100 on a helmet for the same thing... oh well.

I tend to take safety pretty seriously, but come on, at least make the requirement 12.99.

On second thought...a jacket that matches the car would probably make me look like a tool, so scratch that.

At NMRA they told me "In any car that has any form of a power adder, the driver must wear a flame retardant jacket."

I ran 12.0's on the bottle the whole weekend in jeans and a t-shirt lol

look in summit and do NO buy anything that is impact racing, they lost their sfi cer on all prducts a few weeks ago!!!

Yeah that was crazy, hard to believe they had such a big screw up since they were the original simpson
