Took the Mustang out on Sunday for a nice long drive. So I am driving on PA 51... nothing too exciting, the speed limit is 45-50 and there is a good amount of traffic. Then I see an F-body get onto the road I was on... And I was in the mood to play... but at first I thought it was the V6 model... Then, as I got closer to it, I noticed an aftermarket exhaust and then the SS badge. Then, literally as soon I saw the SS badge, all cars start turning and the next thing I know it is just me and the Camaro and no other cars anywhere near.
So I get next to him and we go from a roll of about 40ish mph in 2nd gear. I was expecting to lose because he obviously has a significant hp/tq advantage and my 2-3 shift is still a bit slow in the Mustang. So second gear I was at his rear quarter, as soon as I shifted into 3rd he started walking from me and had nearly 3 car lengths by the time I was ready to shift into 4th at which point we let off. So then we slowed down and I gave him thumbs up.
Anyway, DUMB me didn't notice if it was the pre-1998 or the 98+ ls1. It was maroon-ish SS nothing flashy on it if that helps (maybe you guys can tell by the color)
I think I didn't do too bad for the Mustang being stock besides a C/L plenum and 75mm TB that I installed recently. I really hope it was the LS1 which would mean that he had nearly 100hp advantage on me... LS1s with exhaust put down 300whp+ if I am not mistaken vs my 260 flywheel hp.. maybe 270 with the bigger plenum/TB.
Even if it was the LT1 SS he still had a decent hp advantage. I know I am retarded for not paying attention to the front end of the car.
But anyway it was pretty exciting and now I know that I am only a few mods away from keeping up with Camaros.
