it could be either, the ballasts for the hids is the same no matter the light. The ballasts are very "noisey" electronically and put out a fairly strong magnetic signal when turned on that can interfear with sensors. Mounted behind all the lead of the battery though they are not that big of a deal.

Am curious because unlike the headlight kit the fog lights don't have a separate power source running to the battery.

they they are not HID, they are just a halogen bulb that has the same color output as HID. The ballast is what makes HID different, if it is not there is is not HID

they actually are brighter, install the same way with the exception of mounting the ballast and have a fairly good cut-off in the factory housing for me. I went through Sktuning on ebay and they were great to answer questions and quick to ship, lifetime warranty and good price.

Aren't there some aftermarket fog lights for the GT bumper? I mean actual housings, so that you get a clearer lens.

do you have to run a power cable to your battery for the fog lights or did they just plug in?

There are 2 prongs that plug directly into the stock fog wiring harness...its SO easy to install. I just put my 3000k fogs onto the 98, took me about 30 minutes.

you said your fog lights do not have the seperate power source, IE - the ballast that HID lights require. They make halogen lights that are in the same color/wavelength of light as HID that they might even say HID, but if there is no ballast to control the light they are not HID.

yeah they are just like the headlight kits but there isn't a power wire running to the battery, they just plug into the foglight bulb harnesses.

I upgraded all the wiring going to all the lights so the relays mounted next to the battery pulls all the current.
