My motor is just about to hit the 140k mile mark will i benifit from switching over to Sythenic Oil?? I currently use Castrol gtx and i add restore every oil change.

I drain it into a cheap drain pan from walmart. It has kind of a internal tank in it, so you can put the cap on and move it around without sloshin it everywhere.....then I drain it back into the jug that just had the fresh oil in it, walmart usually has 5 qt jugs, advance auto only has gallon jugs so i have to buy another quart......then you can take that jug of used oil where ever you are going to dispose it at.

I live on a farm so we have a 55 gal drum about half full of used oil.......

I put the old oil in the empty containters from the new stuff and take it back to autozone and they take it for free.

O ok i thought you could take your oil back up because i'll hate to have some old oil sitting around at the house.

I gotta go buy me some oil changing supplies. What do you guys use to take the bolt out to drain the oil??

The first oil change on my car I replaced the drain plug with a Fumoto drain valve, now all I do is connect a hose to the valve, open the switch and cleanly drain it into a container

As for the oil anywhere that sells oil is required by law to accept used for disposal

http://lubricationspecialist.com/front/shop.aspx it's like $25 shipped

Get the F-106N, the N is the nipple so you can put a hose on it, I went to home depot and got like 10 ft of clear hose for only a couple bucks

thumbnail.aspx

I also cut off like a 3-4" piece of the hose and siliconed the end shut to use as a cap so the nipple stays clean between oil changes

Had these on my last 3 cars adn love them

The best part is never having to worry about a stripped plug again

That plus no mess oil changes justify every penny of the $25

As far as getting rid of the old oil. I have one of those drain pans with the spout. From there I pour my oil into a 5 gallon plastic gas can marked boldly, "USED OIL". It's easy to pour in and out of, it's easy to carry and transport, it's clean and it will hold enough so you don't have to run to autozone each time you do a change.

Dude, that's funny!

A friend of mine was stationed in Germany. He changed his own oil and some of it went into a drain. They had some sort of German Environment Police that came and gave him a bunch of fines!!! He almost went to jail over it!
