Ford truck build

So I bought an f150 a couple months ago. 1991 f150 302EFI, M5OD-R2 5spd, posi 8.8 stock 3.55s, dana44 TTB open, and a Borg Warner 1356 transfer case.

I was originally gonna leave it stock... But I guess thats just impossible for folks like us.

First thing done was the motor. I had a 302EFI truck motor laying around that I was gonna drop in, but a coworker told me about a 351W marine motor he had that he offered to sell to me for 400 bucks... Since then my plans on staying stock went out the window. I began searching for axles and suspension and I found an 88 f350 plow truck for a grand. I had an NP435 sitting in an old truck so I yanked that. For those of you who are unfamiliar with these old trucks, that trans was, and still is arguable the strongest trans ford ever made with a creeper gear of something like 6.4:1

I quickly threw out the EFI and converted to carb. The motor's points style dizzy will be replaced when funds are available for a fancy magnetic pickup dizzy... And the 670 holley street avenger will be replaced with a smaller 4bbl for economy... lol... thats a funny joke... but hopefully I'll gain a few mpgs over my current 8-10mpg...

Now going from TTB coil front axle to a solid dana 60 leaf is pretty labor intensive and will require some frame modification so it should be fun and interesting.

Within the next few weeks I plan on parting out the f350 and getting everything I need to get the following stuff accomplished before I begin upgrades.

The truck will get the following modifications and parts

Sterling 10.25 floating posi rear stock with 4.10s
Dana 60 floating solid front open
f350 leaf springs
New Process 435 4spd tranny
boxed in frame horns
POR paint on the frame + some more boxing in of certain areas
Front cross member front behind bumper, maybe a few more in certain areas
Borg Warner 1356 transfer case will be the only stock part that stays since its one of the better transfer cases

Once the truck is up and running like that. The truck will get new springs to replace the suspension blocks and a front locker as well as 36"+ military surplus tires

Current pics below, I'll upload pics as I tear apart the parts truck and begin work on mine

351 has a taller deck height then the 302 so my EFI intake manifolds wouldn't have worked. It was alot cheaper and easier to slap a carb on it. Theres also alot less crap under the hood. All the sensors and SMOG and wiring crap was replaced with about 8 wires... I can have a picnic under the hood.

When I bought the f350, I was planning on going back to EFI for the hp and mpg gains. But when I started really looking at the EFI on the truck I realized I would have needed to spend minimum $700 (and thats wholesale prices) to really get it running like new and I would have all the EFI crap back under the hood. Not to mention, I could spend less and have less work to do if I spent the money on a good ignition setup with a smaller carb and have comparable hp and mpg gains...

Fuck EFI... and fuck TTB... lol... I like simple... Carburetors, solid axles, manual transmissions and leaf springs make me happy
