Hey guys i have a brand new world class T5 1990 model and want to put it into the 95GT. I know the output shaft is larger in diameter but can i just use the smaller clutch disc and piolet bearing and throwout bearing and not change the shaft or is it longer also???
Thanks Troy 95GT

Hey bud,

As i recall, the diameter is not the issue. It is the length of the input shaft. The fox is shorter. You would have to get a fox bellhousing, and even with that there could be issues. Because your shortening the overall length of the powertrain, you might have to trim your shifter hole on the body, figure out a new transmission crossmember, and you may even have to get an extended driveshaft. IMO, not worth it.

Alex.

NO NO NO... The only thing you would need is a 94/95 input shaft from your old trany... Everything else will work just fine... I have a 89 T5 in my 94 GT and the only thing that I changed was the input shaft from my old trany... My old trany went bad so I got a built 89 T5 from a buddy of mine and swaped the shafts... Bell, clutch, fork and everything else works just fine from your SN95 car...

Correct. If you are willing to swap input shafts, it is a direct bolt in. However, like i said it is not s direct swap off hand.

It's a simple swap. Just use the foxbody bell housing and it all bolts up. I did this to my 95gt vert when I switched it from and auto to t-5. Below is the only part you will need to buy. There is a difference in the length of the sn95 bellhousing and input shaft compared to the foxbody bellhousing and input shaft. You need this spacer to take up the difference. I didn't use this one, as I had one machined myself. I had to get the car back on the road quick so I never had time to verify if the space was a necessity or not. I almost remember that it might be ok without it but I used it to be safe. Also, you will need to make an adaptor plate for the trans mount to mount to the crossmember. Basically, take a small piece of metal stock and drill 4 holes. Bolt one end to the trans and the other to the trans mount. It's a lot of typing but literally took like 10 minutes to make, if that. I ran this for a long time and had zero issues. Don't tear down the trans just to swap input shafts(more time and more money) IMO. Also, once the swap is done you can find foxbody transmissions cheap if something happens to that one. Good luck with the swap. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks guys....Is the output shaft easy to change out yourself? I can build engine and crap and have all kinds of tools.Never dug into one yet.
On another note i have a guy who wants to trade an 04 P71 Crown Vic for my GT. My car needs body and paint his is very sweet and i could probably speed under their noses with it LOL. I just got a 91mph ticket in a 45mph zone.
