Had the same problem.

Either install dropped solid motor mounts, or buy a new hood.

is that the tube for the vent tube from the valve covers?
Why not remove it, plug the hole and hook the vent tube up to the air intake tube??

Better than buying a new hood just for that IMO.

It's a lot cheaper to just buy an elbow and the correct throttle body.

An SN95 elbow and throttle body can be had for dirt cheap, especially used. I just sold my 70mm SN throttle body for $50, and sold my last elbow for $60. That's a lot cheaper than a $5-600 hood plus paint.

Oh, and welcome to SN95 forums. You should go introduce yourself.

Paul.

i already have all that, and don't want to use it. fox style cleans up the engine bay a bit, and has better throttle response with out all the bends in the intake tube.. i'm trying to find solid motor mounts now. all we can find at summit are ones for the fox car's and i'm not sure if they will work.

I agree, the fox does clean it up a bit. I had to use it because they don't make big throttle bodies for SN95s. I didn't notice any real difference in throttle response though. That has a lot more to do with tune than it does the throttle body setup.

Here's the drop solid mounts.

Did you turn the vent tube to face the rear. That gave me an extra inch of clearance.

did that last night with a screw driver. stuck it in the end and spun it around, now the hood closes.
can't really tell yet exactly howe much clearance i have under there. i'm gonna check it with a clay bar tonite.

No problem. Let us know how it goes. I'm the undisputed heavyweight king of figuring out how to make hoods clear. I managed to get my old 418W under a stock '98 Cobra hood with two 3/8" phenolic spacers and a nitrous plate. :) Holy crap it was a lot of work though.

It was a bitch. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably just buy a new hood. I just REALLY love '98 Cobra hoods. Alot.

Paul, which intake did you use with your 418? I seem to recall a TFS R?

For me, the way I look at it is, is Saleen could stuff a 351W with a foxstyle throttle body setup under a stock hood of some S351 cars, then its no big deal with a 302 and a fox throttle body setup.

Yep, Windsors actually fit pretty easily as long as you don't go nuts with phenolic spacers and nitrous plates and whatnot. :)

My new setup uses a TFS-R. My old setup was an Edelbrock Performer RPM.

If you use aftermarket fuel rails, it can be a PIA to fit some aftermarket intakes. I actually milled out the entire underside of my TFS-R (where the vacuum ports are) and had it welded back up so I could use it on my new motor without phenolic spacers.

My upper intake has about 100 hours of various work in it, and about $1000 to make it look the way it does. There is a ridiculous amount of milling, cutting, sanding, welding, polishing, and chrome plating that went into it.

It fits under a stock hood too! Except the throttle body and 4" inlet pipe doesn't. :(

Paul.
