so ive been wanting to paint my calipers red for a while now and im finally going to do it. ill also be painting the letters on the upper intake red along with my strut tower brace black.(its faded and peelin) anybody got tips for me? should i sand the calipers lightly? im going to use vasoline on the letters of the calipers so they stay black. i know i need high temp paint but anybody whos done this before have any suggestions? i also have a damn squeek so ill be greasing all the parts to the brakes. the squeek stops when i apply the brakes??

as for the calipers I used the high temp caliper paint from duplicolor. I used my air die grinder w/ a wire wheel to take them down to a fresh surface (only takes 5 min if you have access to that kinda stuff otherwise by hand works), then cleaned and shot them w/ a few coats. I think I did it sometime last year and they look as good as the day I did them. No flaking, discoloration, etc.. Good prep work is key w/ any paint job.

You could leave them on the car just tape off what you don't want overspray on. Yea, I'd knock the brake dust off w/ a cleaner, then hit them w/ the wheel.

When I did mine, I used Duplicolor (AutoZone, Pepboys, Checker...) and I brushed the paint on without removing the calipers.
