So my eaton-supercharged 1998 GT has been giving me fits at idle.
When I originally installed the TorkTech kit, I was able to start it and it would idle like a champion. I then took it to HPP Racing to get it tuned. The car sat for months with the hood missing (from the install) in a lot behind their shop while they figured out why my coolant cross over continually blew off on the dyno.
I then got the car back with this problem. When you start it cold, it wants to die. If it doesn't, it surges until it dies. It also puts out excessive smoke from the tail pipes and smells like gasoline. Once the car warms up, everything seems OK. It's probably not the tune, as a second shop looked at it and retuned the car. When I got it back from them, it worked. They were able to help the issue quite a bit. Now, it's back, and it's bugging the shit out of me. I have cleaned the MAF and the IAC, and the car still wont cooperate. This is another annoying problem that makes enjoyment of the car extremely difficult.
It tends to help maintain the idle if I put the car in gear.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I'd like to fix this issue.
I will buy a beer for the guy who provides the tip that fixes the problem! Thanks.
