Hey there my dad has an issue with his 1998 GT, when he fills up with gas the pump wont shut off and it will overfill and gas will spill out of the filler neck. Anybody have any ideas on what could be the cause? Im not really sure whats going on with it.

Thanks

there's a little flap at the end of the pipe(in tank) that keeps gas from doing what you've described. flap is sticking open. take out the gas pipe & check it out, it's not that hard to do. had to take mine out to replace the seal that goes in the side of the tank. hope this helps...

This happens when you go to fill up the car and let it fill automatically, once the filler clicks to tell you to stop filling it burps out gasoline while the filer is still in the the tank neck.

ther are two flaps. 1 where you put the gas nozzle in, the 2nd wher the gas tube goes into the tank. that's the 1 i'm talking about.
