I've been using Wix filters (stock) for over 40yrs. Never had a problem. Still use them on all my vehicles except the BMW (Mann).

Motorcraft has served both my Fords well, though I'll add that their construction was taken over by China. I think but I'm not sure that FoMoCo filters are still American made and thus cost more.

It’s a fuel filter, shouldn’t matter too much, I use Motorcraft. Rockauto still carries them.

It matters if it's an ineffective filter and your injectors get clogged.
True, but I would imagine that so long as there is a filter there, it should filter out enough to not cause problems. Kind of like trying to choose what brand headlight switch, or air filter. They will all work pretty much the same. That’s just me though. I haven’t had issues with cheap stuff from the parts store.

True, they're all trying to accomplish the same goal. And the same argument can be made of oil brands and their products. Just depends on budget and conscientiousness of the owner. I've seen enough expert discussion over the recent years to find my exact products and stick with them. Come to think of it, there was a video just a few days ago by Palm Beach Dyno where they toured the Injector Dynamics facility (they do a lot of collaboration with Bosch BTW). After watching their two hour video tour in which almost none of it was fluffy content filler, it reaffirmed by decision some years ago on the IDF-750 fuel filter. I have ultimate peace of mind because of it. Just one specific example, mind you.

If you have a basic setup or even just slightly modified with not a lot of skin in the game, I'm sure just about any fuel filter will do. But if you're running expensive hardware.... better not be sleeping on your research.

“But if you’re running expensive hardware…. better not be sleeping on your research.” God bless being broke :) Jokes aside, who wouldn’t want the best they can get? Good point.

I know (being in this industry over 45yrs) that anything can fail, even when people say it's "the best". My take is, take care of whatever you have and like to use and it will most likely serve its and your expectations. I can honestly say that in my 40yrs of managing a large construction fleet, we never lost an engine, fuel or hydraulic system due to filter failure. Maybe I got lucky. :D
