What does Ford use for the to seal the fuel fittings in the fuel rail? I removed a shreader valve to test the fuel pressure and it keeps on leaking after I reinstalled it. I've used teflon tape, silicon, and high temperature sealer (which is indicated ok for fuel use), and they all start leaking again with in 48 hours.

Did you thoroughly clean the threads, allow everything to dry, add sealant (pick your poison) and allow it to "set up" thoroughly prior to introducing fuel to it?

Are the threads in the schrader and the fuel rail still in good condition?

Paul.

Yeah, everything was pretty clean. Last time I used the fuel sealer, I let it sit over night. I'll check the threads on the shreader valve again, if it leaks.

If you let it set up, then I would suspect the threads. Otherwise, who the heck knows what's wrong.

I redid the seal again 2 hours ago, and I'm gonna let is sit overnight, and see what happens in the morning. Worst case, I'll go get another fuel rail from junk yard, and swap it over when I'm doing intake manifold next weekend.

dont be afraid to tourque that fitting down just a littile bit more, youll know when its going to give. my rail mount fuel pressure sender leaked a bit then i just used teflon tape and tightened it a little more than i normally would. Plus if you do damage/have damaged your threads already just go to the JY like you were saying. good luck

Its pipe thread...it SHOULDN'T need anything more than some teflon paste/tape. pipe thread is "flared" when you look at it...so even though you can't "bottom" it out doesn't mean it isn't sealed all the way down. BECAREFUL b/c a fuel rail is nothing but stamped steel...i.e. very FUK-UP-ABLE. I've broken a brass fitting off in one and no easy out in the world would get it out. I ended up jacking up the whole rail and having to buy a new one. CHECK THE THREADS before you do ANYTHING.

Update: Turned out to be bad thread on the shreader valve. I got another one from Autozone, put some teflow paste on it, and no more leaks.
