Ok i have searched for the last hour or so on the forum site as well as google for this answer but.....

I have pink fuel injectors on my 5.0 motor. I need to know what size they are. it could possibly be my answer to why my car is runnin like crap.

I have my timing set on 10 advance on the dot (yes i removed the spout) fuel pressure is set at 40psi on the dot (bbk fpr) new plugs new wires new coil clean points on cap and button, and yet if i punch it i spit and sputter as i climb through the rpms. thanks for any help in advance

pink was the factory color on the 02-03ish 4.6 motors. was 20-21 lb i believe... they should be the long thin style and i believe you will need the harness adapter to get them to work. do yours have a adapter plug on them?

pink injectors are either 21/22lb injectors.

PS do remember this is on a 5.0 motor not a PI swap or anything.

sounds like to big of injectors, what all is done to your 5.0? if its mostly stock then i would suggest getting a set of 19# injectors just like the orange ones pictured.

the guy i bought it from claims that the guy he bought it from said that he bored the motor 30 over (306) put forged rotating assembly put a f303 cam in. now i check and the motor does have stock e7 heads and wanted to make sure cause it had 764 autolite plugs and i replaced them with 25 autolites. the timing was at like 25 advance so i droped it down to 10 on the dot. it does have bbk shorties o/r xpipe and dumps. also has 3.55 gears and the transmission feels brand new i havnt had not one single problem shifting. i even have the fpr set at 40psi. but when im driving part throttle is fine and ill get a little surge every now and then. but if i punch it to the floor threw out the entire rpm range you here it studdering and even more so when it hits the 4k to 6k rpms

When you checked the timing you pulled the spout, correct? There is no way that you could run with 25* of advance. If you did pull the spout and the reading was 25* I would highly suspect that the HB is coming apart and has slipped on the inner hub. If you can see any rubber protruding from the HB or a wobble it's toast. Look between the HB and engine for the protruding rubber.

ya when i pulled the spout the timing was at 25 not while the spout was on. i started playing with it again today cause i was gettin mixed answers on how to set the fpr on base. anyway the fpr at idle is about 35psi if i pull the vacum line off then its about 45. i set the timing at 15 adv. and the car runs better this way. but i have noticed the problem still there. at about 75% of the gas pedel down it runs without any surges or gives. once i hit 100% it surges and jerks not hard but noticeable. while driving if i left of the gas while in gear the rpms start to drop the exhaust changes like its supose to do but once i ease the gas pedel at no matter what the pressure of my foot it does the same surge and jerk motion as 100% but goes away in seconds and smooths out as long as i dont press the gas to the floor. ok that is the best i can explain. no i havnt tried to clean the MAF yet nor have i tested the TPS. this is where im at as of now and i thought i would update it.

Cleaning the MAF (remove and spray with MAF cleaner) is essential. Take the timing back to spec (10*). I'm puzzled though how the timing got to be 25*. Makes absolutely no sense and the pinging would be very obvious as it should be at 15* advance. Something here isn't adding up. Did you check the HB? As for the fuel pressure I would set the pressure at 40 psi max KOEO (key on engine off). Do all three and report back.

I doubt its your harmonic balancer. If the balancer was bad it would shake like crazy at startup and smooth out as the RPMs raised. If cleaning the mass air does not improve the situation id locate some stock injectors and go from there. I believe i have a set if needed.

Did the car run better when the timing was at the supposed "25 degrees" advance? Reason I ask, If your balancer is on the way out, the hub with the timing marks can slip and now the marks are no longer accurate. Advance the timing a few degrees at a time and test drive it again. If the car begins to run better and better, your balancer has slipped on the hub and is not giving you accurate timing marks to read off of. A balancer does necessarily just come apart. It can happen all at once or over time. Try bumping the timing back what your balancer is calling "25" degrees and it could be 10 degrees in all actuality. Thats my bet.

time for an update!

ok here is the update and its a good one.

I took the car to the near by dyno tune shop and had them dyno tune the car. I got a chip and dyno tune time for a total of 520 bucks (ouch)

As i was talkin to the tech and explained to him about the injectors he agreed they are bigger than 19lb injectors but they were acting like they were 19. im assuming that because the MAF is stock and set up for 19lbs and not the 21/22 lbs that is why it was doing this. anyway he continued to add fuel to the map and soon got it complete. told me that have exhaust leaks and that because of this he couldnt get the tune right on the money he added enough fuel to be on the safe side. he also told me that because of it running so lean he couldnt even get on it in the begining. but all is well now. no more studdering or hicups. in fact i was able to spin the tires from take off in first at idle to 6k and when i hit second it continued til 3krpms. i was laughing the whole time. the tuner also explained that if i was to get the sct maf and get the exhuast leaks fixed that he can more than likly pull another 40hp out of her. guess i need to find a way to raise another 600 bucks lol.

end results 250hp 310ftlbs of tor. (guess it does have a cam lmao)
