ok guys i just bought a 1990 gt hatchback with 48xxx miles...car is pristine except for the botched up job they did with the fuel pump. anyways the symptoms are simple they fuel pressure would drop immediately if revved quickly even standing still. needless to say i can't rev the car past 1500rpms or the fuel rail would drain quick enough to stall... so today i replaced the fuel pump with a bosch unit brand new, new strainer and fuel filter. i wired everything like OEM. i have done this procedure a few times already and never a single issue. well i start up the car and it definitely runs better...however it still bogs down...i put a pressure gauge on there and the same thing happens it losses all the pressure on the gauge but when i stop revving it it would come back to idle normally... another curious thing is that if im driving it at light throttle and it starts bogging i can switch off the ignition and turn it back on quickly and it would gain some pressure....anyways i'm gonna start checking the voltage at the pump and work my way up....what do you guys think? bad replacement pump?, bad regulator? (highly doubt it)...i don't know what else to do.... thanks in advance...btw i know this is a 94-95 forum but they are almost the same so i thought i would ask and go from there...

Hard wire your fuel pump to 12v and put a switch inline. If your "dropping fuel pressure" symptom goes away, then its almost a guarantee that your PIP or TFI are to blame

ok guys i found he problem and i thought i didn't want you to feel like i just ask a question and get my answer and bolt...so here was the fuel drop issue...i dropped the tank and the filler neck gasket on the tank was broken, so the idiot who "fixed" it siliconed the whole filler neck as he pushed the tube into the tank. long story short the silicone got dried up and broken down into a million tiny pieces that clogged the fuel pump. Also the retard could not retrieve the OEm strainer so he zip tied some kind of plastic mesh to the pump....i just don't understand the thought process in some individuals....but she is back up and running strong after a new pump and a fresh set of plugs, the original plugs and ( i mean original from 1990) were melted down quite a bit....so she is purring like a kitty now.... thanks for your support, next up is a fresh set of chrome pony wheels to give it that unique look in a totally untouched fox.

Was the drive shaft removed recently. Is it possible that the turned it on you? Ive seen odd vibrations that occur after that.
