Why would it do that? any ideas? When i turn my dizzy with the ignition on, engine off, it will kick the ignition on and you can hear the fuel pump.

the pip inside the dizzy is what tells the fp to turn on because the engine is rotating.
It's doing what it is supposed to do.

thats normal. the fuel pump signal comes from the PIP. thats why when you turn the key on it primes for a second then stops, wont start priming again until the dizzy starts spinning.

Haha, I remember the first time I figured that out. I was spinning the distributor, and then heard my Aeromotive pump switch on. I was like... WTF?!?!?
