So took the vert out the other day and drove around for twenty mins with no problems, then on way home the car started sputtering on take off then it would stop. I would not do this every time just a couple of times. I got home and checked the plugs to see if the was wet or burnt and they was perfact. I talk to a mech and he said that it was the fuel pump getting weak and was about to go out, does anyone agree? He told me that a lot of these cars fuel pumps goes out. The car is 2000 GT auto. 80,000 miles, thanks for your help trying to get it fixed before i sell it.

We do there are just a ton of things it could be.

Check engine light on?

How does it run at full throttle. That's when fuel demand is highest.

Could be your coil on plugs. Maybe one is going bad. I had a bad spark plug wire on my 98 and it was sputtering really bad. You getting a check engine light?

doesn't do it a full throttle, just took it down the road gave it full throttle, got it up to 100mph with no sputter. what ever it is it only sputters after warm up. can fuel pumps that are gettin weak give problems when they get warmed up?

first of all, some people dont troll the forums for new tops, and others wont post bad tech or information if they arent 100% on so give it time for people to read. Me this is the first time I have read it.

Check fuel rail pressure and see what its at, get the spec from either ford all data or your hains chilton manual, and compare and see if your with inspec. if not then you may have another issue,

31+psi w/ vacuum
40+psi w/out vacuum!!!

but you really need to be able to drive it and watch the pressure when the problem occurs.
