A friend and I are thinking about going in half and buying one. Thought it might be good to check out mods.

Has anybody here ever used one of these ?
How correct are they on whp/wtq ?

Thanks..... Outlaw

I know its not going to be as good as a dyno, :slap: But when you have 3 or more cars your tweakin' its alot cheaper.

I was just wondering from somebody that has used it how close it is. A friend had one back in 90 or 91 that was fun to play with, the 1/4 times where dead on ( tested at the track ). But thats when they where big and ugly boxes....lol
Im sure they are alot better now being almost 20 years later.

never heard of that thing. There is a place down in the city here that will do a pull on the dyno for about $5, it's more if they tune it for you, but you can tune it yourself and just go again for $5. I think it's pb & j or something.

My friend has the Gtech Pro and it seems to be pretty accurate. It might be the RR but i'm honestly not sure. He used it when he went to the track and it was almost right on the money.

I guess it would be decent to buy if you had more people pitching in for it... might be worth it.

I have one and like it. They give instructions for runs for estimating HP/Tq etc., and I did 4 runs like that prior to getting a canned SCT (no mods on my engine yet--32V SVT--I just wanted a baseline). After the tune, the car just felt like it had no wind, whereas before I had to be careful not to blow past redline. I put the G-Tech on again and did 3 more runs and it was showing peak HP down almost 25%. To make a long story short, the car's a 99 but the engine is a '98 (came from the factory that way). A tune for the 99 was loaded. The IMRCs on the 99 are different apparently in just more than materials because there's no enable/disable option in the tune for that year. Once the tune for the 98 was loaded and the enable IMRCs checked, it was like .... Whoa! I put the G-tech on again and on my last set of runs, it was showing about 12% increase over my first runs.

So, were those numbers dead accurate? Probably not, but I don't care. I just wanted something that would indicate whether I was making progress or not and it certainly confirmed my subjective impressions. I'd recommend it. As someone said, it's sure a lot cheaper than a dyno for casual stuff (and fun too).

I had the ORGINAL back............god I guess its been 10 years. It was pretty damn close to real track time. In fact I took it with me just to see and I cant quote the true numbers but it was only off by like .4 or so in the quarter

Id like to have the new ss one that does 8th and quarter mile

I have an RR model. $300 is kinda expensive, but they have lots of features(HP, times, Gs, etc). If I'm not mistaking, you can have up to 4 cars dialed in there. Haven't used it much and I'm not too impressed with it, but I haven't been to the track to see how correct it is. :dunno:
