what gear ratio do you run, and what kind of before and after did you notice? from a stand still, going from gear to gear, and gear vs speed vs rpm. or any other gear related experiences. i currenlty still have the stockers so i can't add much feedback. i want to gather as much gear info as i can, but i don't want to get into the question "what gear ratio should i choose?"
I went with 4.10's in my auto and I had 3.08's stock. Huge difference in acceleration compared to before. The track does'nt open for another month so not sure how much it will take off. Gas mileage didn't suffer too much as long as you drive like a human . For highway driving it's a bit too much, but a usually drive in the city. Good Luck.
i went from 3.08 t0 3.73 in my auto dont really know stock times..but I ran a 14.5 with a real bad 2.25 60 spinning tires...pretty much stock except for headers and gears
so highway milage will suffer more than city. i don't drive much in the city. school and work are both only a couple blocks away, so durring the week i'll maybe put 3-4 miles on the car. thats how little its driven. but the weekends i''ll go drive around or go out of town to meet friends. sometimes as far as Lake Charles to Lafayette and back. 50-60 miles one way. i have a 5 speed, and 4.10's are out of the question. thinking maybe 3.90 or 3.73. what part of the vin do you look at to find the stock gear ratio?
With my car bone stock my buddie would pull 5 cars on me in his 2000 GT auto like right off the line and even more up top, Installed 4:10's Spinning the tires and all I had him by half a car until the top of 4th! Best bang for the buck mod so far. At 60mph I am like 2200 to 2300 rpm. They are great unless you like to cruise at 80. Keeps me going the speed limit on long distance trips and I don't get a ticket lol.
man i have been going back and forth with this decision since i first got my car. i want 4.10's because i am very performance minded. but i don't want it to be too much when i'm taking a long trip. i've been really thinking about 3.90's but i don't know for sure still. :dunno:
I went from 4.10's to 3.55's yall are probably wondering WTF? solid supercharged setup.. to IRS turbo setup. anyways. I MISS MY 4.10's!!! Cruising @ 45mph in 5th gear w/4.10's was about 2200 rpm. w/ the 355's = 1800 rpm. 75mph 5th gear w/ 4.10' about 2800 rpm. same thing w/ 3.55's = 2200-2300 rpm
yea I too have my job like 3 blocks from here, which is like 3 min in my car, then on weekends I Usually jus cruis around town which is nuttin and when I go on highway it isnt more than 50 miles round trip, maybe 60 max but thats roundtrip n thats on weekends n usually jus 1 day outta weekend, sometimes I dont even go out jus around town. so 4.10s or 3.90s ??? I dont care bout mileage, all i care bout is performance, I dont want it to be toooo much gear for my car tho. but I wouldnt kno whats tooo much so help me out.
if you plan on staying naturally aspirated or a Centri. blower, i'd do 4.10's. If you plan to do Nitrous, Roots blower or Turbo.. 3.73's.
thanks for the insite. 3.73's or 3.90's seems like what i'll do. the stock gears make it rev so slowly. it takes forever for it to climb in RPM. if i ever go FI, i'd like it to be a 2.1l KB. long time away, so i won't concern myself with it now. first thing would have to be some wheels and tires. even bone stock anything more than half throttle in first or full throttle in second and i just spin.
It will be a long time till I even start thinkin about a blower since I wanna get the most outta N/A first so, 4.10s will do. thanks man
I have 4.30s in my auto. I really don"t have any driveablity issues on the autobahn. It just sucks down gass when I open it up. :noes:
Ive got 4.10's and a tr3650. At 70mph im turnin 2300rpms in 5th gear. On the highway i set the cruise at 72 and i gotta turn the music down to hear the car. Thats with an o/r prochamber. 4.10's are sweet.
I ran 373 on my auto NA, and got about the same milage on the highway. but it sure feet better. Agreed
