getting fuel pump out?

well, got the car towed and figured out it is the fuel pump. How do i get it out? Just lower the tank?

also, will a walbro 255lph reduce fuel economy vs a stock one? i was thinking of upgrading to a 190, but a guy close to me is selling his 255 for cheap. (i know i'd need a regulator.)

A 190 or 255 will be fine. If your stock regulator is in good working order, it will be fine.

Drop the tank by unbolting the two straps, lowering the tank slowly, unhooking the fuel lines and sending units, and setting it on the ground. It helps to have a friend help if you haven't done it before.

i thought it would need an ajustable regulator so it doesn't put too much fuel in?

your factory regulator regulates how much fuel goes to the injectors.. you will be fine with a 255 and factory reg.

A fuel line disconnect tool will save some time and maybe a few cuss words.

i got a different 255 off ebay for cheaper, so it should be here next week. i'll see if any of the auto shops near me have a tool for that and i'll go from there. just have to syphin all the gas out now- figures, it goes out right after i fill up :wall: :wall:

Just did that swap yesterday. Remeber WD40 is your friend. When something does not budge, just use that and a little patience. Putting the pump back in is gonna be a bitch, because you have to get the pump and net into a baffle for the tank. Get a flashlight for that. Get someone to help you, because there are some things, like aligning the fuel filler neck is a major bitch

If you just watch how the pump comes out, it's pretty easy to put back in.

Easy install, just make sure you have someone helping you lower the tank. Ask me how I know lol.

Before you put the tank back up cut a hole over the fuel pump. Thats what I did. Then I used some plumbers putty to put the piece back in. If it ever needs to be changed again I dont have to drop the tank. I wouldn't chance cutting while the tank is in though.
