I'm Getting 4.10s for my 98GT 5 speed. What are my opitions for my spedo? I read the Dallas Mustang Speed Cal doesn't work on 98 5 speeds...Also my car has 109,000 miles on it. Should i just have the rear end rebuilt? What should I expect too pay ?
EDIT: I read Blackfangs post very informative, it helped me not to "Fear The Gear"

Sweet man. I would get the rear end rebuilt, well with new heavy duty clutch packs, and seals, that doesnt cost too much mabye like $200 tops with install I would assume. If 96-98 are like 87-95s then you can just get a new speedo gear for like $10 which will set it all right for you, it might be off by a bit but deff the way to go if thats possible.

I have a DM speedcal on my 98GT for my 3.73's and it is a 5 speed. From what I undersand, the highest speedo gear you can get would be for 3.55's. The speedcal is worth the money.

Yup the biggest speedo gear you can get is for 3.55's. The Dallas speed-cal will work for your 98...... :thumb:

The DMP speedcal will work for all 94-04 5 speeds and 96-98 aode's. They also have an adapter for those who installed a 99+ 5 speed in a 94-98

I stay away from speedo gears only reason is they are made of plastic and I have seen a few break, or go bad due to heat and stress.

Glad my thread was helpful.

My speed-o was fixed thru the speed sensor (electric) I got a box similar to the speed cal, from Holcomb Motorsports in Lumberton NC and it works great.

Also, if you use the speedcal, any time you want to change your gears or tire/rim size it is a simple binary code change. Super easy to do.
