im going to look at a 83 stang for my bro tomorrow.

what should i look at?and ask questions about?

things to be aware of:
its not a 10:1 motor
its got a flat tappet cam
its a vert, and an early one at that and its going to leak and its a bitch to get parts for pre 84/85 tops used (i had an 84)
if the pump isn't working for the top, it probably needs new lines too and new cylinder, if its a must that the top work its about $500-1000 to do it right.
nice boat trailer wheels
check the door striker area, it cracks on the door and the body because the cars flex so much this would be a deal breaker for me because you can't stop the crack on the body side w/o major surgery.

that said, if it fires right up and stays running and everything works, go for it.

it runs.my bro saw it yesterday.he wants me to go look today.it used to be a v6 car now has a 306.my bro said its got a lotta cam to it!and i know with his budget it will be tuff to find something without to much work that needs to be done. but thanks for the advice

Wheel lips rust out in the rear, and anything pre-87 holds no value whatsoever. Same again with a swapped car.
