Got my trans back...(mild update)

Long story short... I got my transmission back from the shop on Tuesday, put it in the car Wednesday, and took the whole car back down to the shop Thursday night. Why may you ask?! I DUNNO YET!!! :crying: Once I got everything squared away in my garage, made sure every nut and bolt was tight and no parts laying around. Put a nice new polyurethane trans mount in and here we go ready to start! Start the car and holy shit vibration! Something wasn't right. Drove the car up the street and in all gears above 2500RPM the whole car vibrates violently. WTF... Called the shop Thursday afternoon and took the whole car down there Thursday after work. What a nightmare, 3 weeks before Carlisle and my car is in shambles. Figures. Basically I'm $1,300 in the whole with no car. Hopefully it was something they eff'ed up so I won't have to pay for it :crazy2:

a buddy of mine had the incorrect balance type of flywheel and that caused a low rpm vibration in his car...
perhaps a similar problem?

It was fine when I pulled the transmission out ya know?!

Na, I dunno if they even got a chance to take it for a drive Friday because of the rain :wall:. Sucks because it's beautiful out today and I believe they only come in Saturdays to do Dyno Tunes. So I'm SOL until next week :crying:. Maybe he'll chime in! :TY:

I need some details, what trans do you have? What year is your car? Does it do it at all speeds/gear's? Or only high speeds?

T-5 out of a 94' Cobra. All gears above 2500RPM

T-5 out of a 94' Cobra. All gears above 2500RPM

Pull the driveshaft, run it through the gears, and see if it still does it.

Shop did exactly that and worked their way back. Found out that I eff'ed up when I put it back in and bent the flywheel or something in there. Harmonic balancer was also bad which accounted for some of the vibration. Basically me trying to save a buck by taking it out myself ended up costing more in the end. Should of just taken the car down there in the first place. Should have it back by friday :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Im burnt up my clutches last friday at the track. Im pulling my tranny and I rebuilding it my self. I have help with a few. And really are not that bad. But mines a 4r70w (auto) Im building it for 700+hp

In my case, I'm doing both lol! Quite possibly the single most expensive mistake I've made yet!
