as the title says, I have a few questions about the casting numbers on the block and heads.. before you clutter this thread up with "worthless without pics" smileys, i will start another thread for pictures. this is mainly just for the casting numbers.

heres the email my dad sent to me:

Trey,

Get on your web site and see if the numbers are matching correctly on our motor. The block was:
RF - XR3E - 6015 - CA

Which leads me to believe it is the 1999 Teksid block which would be a very good thing. I have looked all over the web and the numbers are strange. I also think this might be a Ford Warranty Block that was put on a cobra after the engine was damaged while under warranty. I do know it is not a WAP block because it does not have the extra ribbing under the intake channel.

The heads are:
RF F6ZE - 6C064 - AD which I believe are '98 Cobra heads. Let me know what your guys think.

Love ya...
Dad

i told him i thought they stopped the Teksid blocks in 98 but i may be wrong.

well like my dad said it doesn't look like a WAP block but the castings are confusing him.

it doesn't have the ribs going across the intake channel like the WAP blocks due.

Everything I have found, says that if it doesn't look like the WAP then its the Teksid block. I found an archived thred from Modularfords where someone else had the same casting numbers but it was a Teksid block. Can you send those pics to your dad and see which one it looks like?

Yeah... That archived thread i found even mentioned that the WAP block was not made until 2001. The 1999 Teksid block is supposed to be THE strongest Teksid block made. I think you are good to go man!

thats what my dad thinks. he thinks its a re manufactured block under warranty. i will have the pics up tomorrow. i have to use my girlfriends computer to resize the images.

the pistons are definitely forged, they have JE imprinted on them and the rods look a bit bulkier than a stock rod. it came from a reputable shop. and i never heard what year the motor was. it has less than 10,000 miles on it (and looks brand spankin new looking at the crank and through the bottom end).. there is minimal carbon buildup on the piston domes (i can still see the face of the pistons in some areas).. it looks really good. the block itself is even clean. no rust on it or anything.

i will get pics up tomorrow so you guys can check it out. :thumb:

Regaurdless if its a WAP or Teksid, it'll hold more power than your planning to throw at it I'm sure. :)

true.. but we are just trying to figure it out.

we are trying to figure out if we need to tear it down, clean it and put it back together or if we should just build it back up..

i will posts pics of it to help you guys but what do yall think?

10,000 miles on the motor but he blew the headgasket in it. the oil that came out of the engine (what was left inside of it) was milky.

Some people are saying the XR3E's are WAP's, even though it appears to be a Teksid. Call down to your local Ford Dealership(s) and see if they can give you an answer with the part#.

I hate to tell you this Trey but, Alluminum does not rust.

Since you have it that far apart, I would put rod and main bearings in it. just make sure you plastgage everything.
