Hi All. I'm a new member from San Diego, CA. Inherited a decent 97 Base model Mustang from my late wife. It was her dream car and I'm proud to have it. Thank You for your time, Gordon
Hi Pinkie. Thank You for the kind words, more smiles than tears now.Welcome to the herd, Gordon! So sorry to hear about your wife. I hope the car had good memories for you.
Great story about your Mustang. Me, I had a 70 Road Runner and my wife was tired of being a car show widow. She said she wanted her own toy. I asked her what she wanted and she said 1) convertible, 2) automatic transmission, and 3) it had to be pink! Fate stepped in and a week or so later I found a pink 98 Mustang ragtop, and we grabbed it. That is why my handle on this site is Pinkie. When i sold my Road Runner for stupid money, I found a 98 GT convertible of my own, except yellow and 5 speed.Hi Pinkie. Thank You for the kind words, more smiles than tears now.
The car has wonderful memories for me, as I was a major reason she got it. We had been dating for a couple of years and her then car was getting "long in the tooth" so to speak. So she started looking for a replacement car. However, she was still in the mode of "get the first car that meets my practical needs". After looking at the first possible replacement car (A really nice green Pontiac Bonneville), she asked me what I thought. I said that it was nice but we needed to continue looking. She looked at me quizzically and said "Why?". I told her that she still needed to look at other options, not to just get the first one she looked at. And then my brain came up with the magic words/thought and I asked her "If you could get any car, any car whatsoever, do you know what you would want?". She immediately said "A Black Mustang". I think looked at her and said with a gentle voice "Honey, how about we start looking for a Black Mustang?". It was then that I saw the mindset change *grins*. So we found one (which was a funny story in itself). Used, but in wonderful condition and she really loved it.
