ok sorry if this is old news, but I just got a 96 yesterday. My first ever stang. Anyhow, my borther wrecked a 98 Cobra a few months back. Well my 96's odometer don't work and it has some ugly indiglow guages. Will the cluster out of the 98 Cobra swap into my 96 GT?

I know the 96-97 Cobra Cluster will swap but i have read that the 98 isn't a direct swap unless its a 98 GT...but i haven't tried it myself so i can only offer what i have read from another member.

Slightly off topic, but what differences are there between 96/97 and 98's that cause things like that, is it all because of that little clock?

I believe the 98's use a different VSS/sender set-up for the guage. I also read something similar when researching whether I could use an Autometer dash or not.

Alot of thing's about 98's are wierd, mostly because it was just prior to a changeover year, and because Ford is Ford and changes things for fun.

ok, well what's these autometer gauges you speak of? is that the ones that look like a stock cluster, but fit in the stock spot and are autometers? if so, I love those, where do I get those?

it's already been sold for 3 grand, but I could stil get some parts off it. Most of it is being used for a 67 stang with an updated engine and pretty much a 67/98 mustang..

well, if you could see what he would want for the vacuum hose stuff off it and the egr pipe, and valve, and the coolant joiner thing where the three radiator hoses join "it holds the thurmostat" and the little thing under the drivers side coil pack... i think it has something to do with the emittions or something... anyway its tied into the vacumm lines to. I'm doing the swap but the small stuff is killing me... like brackets and shit.
