I'm in the planning process of next winters project. I'm going to do a H/C/I upgrade to my 94 GT. The engine has only 61,000 miles with no internal work done, but has all the external bolt on parts (70 mm throttle body, cold air intake, under drive pulleys, shorty headers, high flow H pipe and cat back, as well as a MSD ignition and coil.)

The setup that I have in mind is this:

Trick Flow street intake
Trick Flow Twisted wedge aluminum heads
Ford E303 cam
Ford 1.7 Roller rockers

Do you guys see any problems with this setup? Should I go with stud mounted or standard mounted rockers, as well as 1.6 or 1.7 rockers? Also anything that I have to know about picking the cc size of the heads? I was also wondering about the E303 cam and its computability with the 94-95 computer. Will it idle descent, or do i have to do the fox body computer swap? 1 Last thing, I'm shooting for 275-300 rwhp. With my current mods i have 201 rwhp, Is 300 out of the question with this H/C/I upgrade?

To tell you the truth if you are going with the trickflow heads and intake, just finish it off and buy th ewhole kit that comes with the cam, roller rockers, valve covers and everything and that will net you close to 300rwhp depending on your tune.

I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure if I like that trick flow cam. I'm looking for something that makes good power, but doesnt idle like crap. I checked out those trick flow cams on streetfire.net and they all sound really lopey. The e303 seems to have better idle quality. Unless the trick flow cam in the kit is not their stage 1 cam. Thats what all the 5.0's on streetfire were running

to play devil's advocate - you r concerns about the Trick Flow cam are the
same concerns I've heard about the E-cam. Just choose one you like and
get it tuned - problem solved. Good luck

i have heard a tick flow stage 1 and its not too lopey. My f303 is more lopey

I think you set-up sounds good, but you may want the trick flow stage 1 or steeda #19 cam. 1.6 rr's with these cams and the trick flow heads will be nice, also, get stud mount, not pedistal :thumb:

I have an E303 cam and I like it. The most part it idles pretty good. When it starts to idle bad I clean my mas air meter out and it does better. Usually the rpm tach sits around 1k at idle and its sounds good even with cats on my car. Once in a while after driving the car will just idle down on me and shut off. BUt I think I need a tune anyways.

Man just choose an NA cam it doesn't matter which as long as it doesn't conflict with your pistons and get it tuned it will idle nicely once you get it tuned. I got a F303 cam with 1.6 rollers and the car idles beatifully at 650 RPMS which is stock idle BTW no stalling of any kind and it cams nasty too everyone can tell i got a cam. ANd also you will loose some bottom end torque but after 3K RPMS it's on, it pulls like a raped ape.

Almost any cam is going to give you some small idle problems, a tune is required to optimize any setup you go with. From what I've heard in person E cams seem to lope more than the TFS stage 1 cam, but I think the E cam is more computer friendly. Either way it does not matter with a tune.

custom is nice...but with a package deal the cam they pick is usually pretty decent. I've had the trick flow kit and with a fully built motor and full bolt on's I made just over 300 horses. Then I switched to a custom cam. If I were you I'd go with afr heads and any intake would do really, and custom cam. It'll get you more.

Just curious but, how much does the average dyno tuning session cost with a custom burnt chip?
I'm starting to lean towards the steeda #19 cam, but i'm not sure if it makes power like the trick flow stage 1 cam would. I like how the steeda cam is favored by the stock computer, but if i'm going to swap the cam i want something that will make some good power & torque. Also any advise on which roller rockers to use, 1.6 or 1.7?

Are you working on a budget or no? Cause if your not i would say to get the most out get AFR heads, Holley intake, and a custom cam and a dyno tune and you should be good.

To have the car tuned on a dyno and have a chip burned, your looking anywhere from $500 to $600

Steeda #19 makes power a lil higher than the E303, if my memory serves the RPM range on the #19 is 2300-6000rpm.

the alphabet cams are ok, but kindof old technology. the stage 1 or #19 cam will be better because its a dual pattern profile meaning that the exhaust has more lift and duration and will optimize the cylinder heads and provide good scavenging.
