Hi gang , got a 95 gt 5.0 5 speed that is idling at around 1800 , the IAC seams to be working but when unplugged with the car running there is no change in idle . replaced the TPS with no change . checked for vacuum leaks .. none . car is bone stock. tired of chasing my tail lol

what brand tb? Have you tried the throttle stop screw?
If you are sure that there is no vacuum leaks then it’s more than likely the iac. If nothing changed after unplugging it then it sounds stuck.
Take it off and see if it’s all honked up and if the spring moves freely. Mine did the same, cleaned it up really good with carb cleaner and then put a couple drops of oil in and worked it back and fourth. Problem solved.
Be weary of autozone iac’s. Bought s new one before servicing my old one and it made it worse.

Is that how you test an IAC? the IAC is a pulse width modulated motor is why I ask.
going to say it is not the correct way to check it , but it clicked when I did it lol . fixing to go out and mess with it again in a few
Try what I said to do and see if it helps. The fact that it doesn’t change idle when you unplugged it really keeps my thinking it’s that.

pulled it again , not really that dirty , cleaned it again and hit it with some oil , still no change . also still no change when I unplug it

If it's hanging at 1800rpm then you have a leak somewhere. And it's after the throttlebody since unplugging the IAC didn't change anything. For it to be hanging at 1800 means it's a decent sized leak. I'm assuming the 5.0's have Evap stuff. You might have to check those hoses as well.
FWIW, a buddy of mine kept chasing a high idle in his 03. I kept telling him there's a leak somewhere. He changed gaskets and throttle bodies and added return springs. Finally he started poking around and found an elbow under the blower was leaking bad. He could feel it. But he couldn't hear it. Replaced that elbow and it idles great.

how did you check for vac leaks? Smoke test? If not do a search on youtube and they show some easy diy ways to do it.
