I've got a set of 3:90 gears waiting to go in the car once i get the money... my buddy and i have been arguing, he's trying to build a top speed Mustang, he's telling me with the 3:90's my car will top out at 140mph... is that true? i would think the car would pull as long as i've got room on the tach... I doubt the 3:90's will make that big of a difference... not that i wold go that fast, but still... that doesn't sound right to me... :dunno:

u sure thats right? i have an auto but i used the manual 4th gear and it says my car will top out at 105 with 4.10

i think thats cuz you used the first gear ratio you want to use you last gears ratio. 4th for autos and 5th for stick. im sure my final ratios is .somthing not 1.00

I do give up fast... I'm on a damn aircraft carrier off the coast of Virginia doing work-ups, the internet is slower than dial up. it takes about a half hour to load the home page, then the forums page, then the 50 section, then this post, and then again just to reply... thats why i gave up. O0

Top speed is a factor of many more things than just simple gearing, and is irrelevant anyway unless you are road racing and have a ridiculously long straightaway.
