Heater Control issues

When I turn on my heater it dam near kills the car at idle. I turn it off and she's fine......????? It doesn't matter where the selector is either. Is it kickin on the a/c?

when the defroster is turned on , the a/c comp will start.
are you talking the fan motor or heat/ a/c selector

At any setting on the a/c selector it comes kicks on. Why does the compressor come on at defrost? I'm almost ready to just pull the plug on the a/c pump so the clutch doesn't engage but I don't because I don't want to damage the compressor.

The a/c comp comes on with defrost to blow cool DRY air on the windshield thus defog/defrosting it.
Un plugging the comp for the time being is not a bad idea till you find the issue.
I would look at the selector sw first then maybe the ccrm

Constant Control Relay Module.
it also controls the fuel pump
It's located on a bracket next to the rad expansion tank
