Heater Core Aftermath..

Okay so yesterday I took on the challenge of changing my heater core. Started at 8 am and finished at 5 pm. So I got everything taken out
and started on that dam black box. Well i couldn't get the ac evaporator core line disconnected (I messed up the spring disconnect part up with a vise grip) :angry4:
So I got the box back as far as I could and got the top plastic piece off from where the core is and finally got the core out. Got the new one in and started piecing back my car.

So the problem I am having is there is no air coming from my front vents. Air comes out from the defrost vent and floor but that's it. No air from my vents.
I'm glad I got defrost though because I need that for the winter time.

Anyone know why my vents Will not blow air??

Usually it's broken vacuum line under the hood. It starts at the driver side fender and runs along the firewall to the passenger side where it goes inside to operate the vents.

How hard is it to repair the vacuum line?

very easy. You have a 96 correct? Check at the front of the plenum, right next to the throotle body. There will be a port comming off the the plenum that is fed by 2 vac lines, follow thos and see if there are any breaks.

could also be a vacuum line under the dash that you disconnected as well. pop out your sterio (if the other two options posted above dont fix it) and take a look inside your dash. they are really flexible, rubber, vacuum lines that are color coded. check for a pinched, broken, or missing one.

as they said this is an easy fix. happens to all of us sooner or later. I am sure m 94 is different enough that I will not be of help. All you need to do is find the broken line and slide a connector between them and you are golden. Shouldn't cost $2 or take more then an hour

I followed the vac lines in the engine bay but I didnt find any breaks or anything. Its probably the line that goes into the firewall right by the AC line to the evaporator because I was having trouble getting that ac line dissconnected and I was pulling and crap and I bet thats where I messed it up.

Would it make a difference If I connected the colored hoses that come from my position selector from my HVAC after I hooked up all my wire harneses and turned my car on? There was a harness for some colored hoses that I hooked up after I restarted my car. Its right behind the glove box infont of the heater core black box.
