I believe the original ball joints have a life span of probably 10-15 years. When I was in high school and first acquired my 96 GT, a year into ownership this thing started squeaking like an old station wagon every time I would hit the brakes, or go over bumps. So I got tired of it and finally brought it to a shop, then got my ball joints replaced. I never experienced what you guys had with it coming apart but I know a few people who had it happen too...

It seems like I've been hearing about a lot of ball joints breaking on sn95s lately... it must be a conspiracy.

lol...probably cause people dont replace them when they need to be replaced.

I swapped to 03/04 cobra arms with newer ball joints cause mine were squeeking and popping like no other

guys..... guys guys guys... common now...

these are fords... not lamborghinis... you change the oil every 75,000 miles, and change the ball joints every 100,000........

Are any of the tubular lower control arm kits good for the street. I like the idea of the tubulars being lighter. I need new ball joints for my 98 GT and was thinking of putting either the newer Cobra ones like these,

or maybe some tubulars. The problem with the tubulars is that they are either for drag racing or you need to swap over the k-member, change the struts to coil overs or a combination of the two.

lift the front of the car up so the suspension is hanging with the wheels still attached. grab something like a prybar or long pipe and put under the tire bracing the ground and lift the tire. if you feel movement up and down, i would replace them. you will def feel it. dont do it fast or really hard just pull up on the bar to see if it moves up or down.
