So ive been driving around for about a month and a half from what i can imagine was either a spun rod bearing or a stretched rod. I have a full pi engine sitting on the stand in the corner of my garage thats going to need to be rebuilt due to the same reason (sounds like its something common with these 4.6l's). My question is can anyone point me to a place that has a cheap master rebuild kit (rings, bearings, hardware, gaskets, etc.)? Maybe point me in the right direction with getting this thing back in the car and running. Working with about $1200-1500. I appreciate it.

I would call ford and see if they list one. If they dont have one you can call up ppl like Modular Performance (tell him Duff Daddy sent you!!) ModMax, DSS, Livernoise, ect and get a rotating assembly (comes with crank pistons rods ect for 15-2300 depeding on who what and how its put together. I wouldnt suggest tossing bearings at it and seeing how it goes. More then likely you have some crank damage and should be repalced (I have a whole rotating assmebly from my 96 and will give it to you basically if you want, just get new rings and bearings and slap it together!!!!

+1 to Duff...I went to Modular Mustang Racing and they took good care of me.

If you can get a list of everything you need together, you can piece something together for a reasonable price as well.

hell yeah guys! Duffy i think everytime i see one of your post you surprise me everytime. I called up propower and got hooked up with a guy that was really helpful. He found me a OEM piston and rod set for about $500. Im going to throw that together with a couple other goodies that i have had for quite sometime (pi heads w/comp behives, comp270's and some JBA stainless LT's) and try to shoot for the 300rwhp range!

sound sgood. That combo with a good track was what gave me my 12.6 passes!!! Get it apart, see how it looks and repair as required. still have time to get it done before the end of the season (even up here which is nov 1)
