Are your tail lights out too? A common problem with these cars is the head light connector plug melting and not making good contact. I could smack the top of the dash to get the lights to come but that is only temporary
The headlight switch and pigtail can be found at your local auto parts stores.
You can find out how to remove the gauge bezel to get access to the HL sw. in a Haynes or Chilton manual.

start simple, check all the fuses both under the hood and under the dash. IF they are all good then you can try moving up the chain into the switch.

No the taillights are working. Do you think the problem still could be the dimmer switch if the taillights work? Or should i rule that out for now?

Im also about to buy a shop manual from helm which sells the Ford factory one. Im hoping that will hold many answers.

If all the fuses are good, the dimmer switch/connector would be the first place I would look into.
You can get the sw. by taking only the cluster bezel off. But when I replaced the pigtail/connector I removed the cluster too.
