So I wanted to get my clutch done today, but after taking off my catback and my driveshaft, I've already found a snag. The nuts on the bolts that connect the headers to the mid-pipe are completely stuck on. Try as I might, they will not come loose. I also have no idea how to get to the top ones. Is it easier to come from above, or is this the only way to do it?

Thanks guys.

to get the nuts off that connect the headers to the midpipe its probably best to come from the bottom, i usually use a few extensions. When I took off my stock ones I broke one of the header bolts off getting the midpipe off.

put some pb blaster on the bolts for about an hour. about an 18" extension and a 1/2 " breaker bar with a cheater bar attached to that or if that doesn't work try to run the engine some to heat the manifold then use the breaker bar good luck they can be a pain

Like stated above, try soaking it in pb blaster for awhile, if that doesnt work then your gonna have to heat it up and take it off with an impact

start it up let it get hot and THEN spray pb blaster or wd40 on it, it absorbs the shit and penetrates better.. will come off like butter.

Thanks guys. I did manage to get it off. After a good long while of sitting watching me from the kitchen window, my dad told me we had an impact wrench in the garage. About a half hour after that he told me we had a universal joint for a half inch drive, at which point everything came together, but it was a bitch and a half for a good long while. After that was over with, it wasn't all that difficult to get the tranny down, but it looks like the throw out bearing was fused to the retaining shaft. And tomorrow's Labor Day, so everything's going to be closed... Dammit.

Ford probably will be, but Autozone is for sure and Kragen or whatever is near you should be at least for most of the day.
