Well here is the low down i just finished installing my top end combo I just installed gt40 heads off of an explorer, F Cam , double springs, 1.6 roller rockers, Explorer intake manifold with 1" spacer and explorer throttle body...... Now my question is that the tps i'm using is out of an 89 crown victoria, i want to know if this will work and or are the volt ranges different in the crown vics tps. This is my first time changing heads and cam in a mustang and all i can say is it all went pretty smooth and so far i cranked it up just now and it started it ran very rough and only for like 3 seconds then died, i'm thinking because there was no tps connected, no mass air and no air charge sensor but it sounded awesome..... please your input is greatly appreciated......thanks.

I'm pretty sure if the crown vic was a 5.0 if was the same tps as the mustangs. I don't see ford making 2 different parts for the same purpose. Just remember when you get everything hooked up and running to reset your idle and check the tps voltage. It'll make a world of difference. Also make sure everything is registering with your tweecer. I had a problem when I switched my tps for another one since it had a different calibration the throttle position shown in tweecer was on by a certain percentage.

Oh yea you just reminded me last time i went to my local 1/8 mile track I ran 8.9 @ 79 mph, and that wa with my stock 3.08 gears and mickey thompson drag radials..... of course i'll update with the new set up. thanks in advance i haven't fixed the tps issue yet becasue i was busy with school and work today but hopefully tomorrow morning i'll crank it up with everything hooked up.. Hey one question is the motor when first started after such a swap is it supposed to run smooth as new or will it run kind of rough for sometime or something i have no idea i'm a first timer sooo... any advice????

it'll probably run a little rough but once you tweek it with you tweecer it'll smooth out. I would change your gears seriously. I knwo you like the top end the combo you've put together has alot more grunt down low. Combined with the spray you're lookin at high 11's low 12's. If geared right and you can drive.

Yea i know man but i just hate having to throw gears all over the place with like 4.10's or something, i have had 4.10 and 3.73 before and i just hate them because most of the races down here in miami are from a roll and almost noone will race you from a dig.... Fucking ricers, but if you set the car up for races from a dig you probably will never race unless you go to a track, but for street racing you better have a lot more than 115-120mph on 4th gear, all of these little srt-4's and shit they will do like 135 or something in 4th and if your race ends at 120mph and you let go then they will start saying that you let off and they were catching up... Bullshit i know but hey what can you do but beat them to death :santa_evil: :santa_evil: :santa_evil: Should this combo that i have now rev easily to like 6k right making power at least???? i'm looking for a little more top end power and 6000rpm shift points on the bottle and tuned should it do that??? thanks....

your combo will make more power all around but I think it gives you more low end grunt. It's def a good upgrade. As for the gears makes sense but I'd rather ot race douche bags from a roll. I leave more street races alone becuz they rev up next to me on the hw going 50. I don't believe thats a race. I'll exit and let them follow me to a light and let them KNOW who the better driver is.

Well today i got my tps sensor all set up and i started it but the car doesn't really want to start with the throttle closed and when i open it up all the way WOT then it starts i'm guessing it getting flooded by fuel and opening the throttle cuts the fuel well anyway that an issue i have now but i have to get to tuning it with the tweecer :santa_evil: it also seems i have a lot of header gasket leaks all around especially on the driver side all the bolts are properly tightened down though... i'm thinking that the primaries in my mac longtubes are to big for the exahust ports and the gasket that i used was a stock replacement from felpro that i bought at advance auto parts... should i buy a new set from MR.GASKET, if i remember right when i installed my headers they came with metal gaskets not the regulars that u buy at a parts store....i got it to idle at 800rpms manually buy the throttle bodyand the cam sounds sick ass man its awesome. Also i have a check engine light butthe only thing disconnected right now is the air charge sensor oh and th evacuum tree is also disconnected but nothing else what do you think???
