So I'm redoing my entire exhaust... The one on it now is just annoying. Its got some hellacious leaks and is loud as hell... I had turndowns put on it, because my tips looked like some crap and pointed down, and its way too loud and I'm just flat out tired of the leaks. So I'm trying to decide whether to do long-tubes or shortys... then x-pipe or h-pipe... then catback... I would like some Longtubes and possibly some Bassani or Magnaflow mufflers but I'm not sure. I want it sound diffrent and I want to be smooth and not TOO loud. I like it being loud, but I want to hear my radio without it being nearly all the way up. What about x-pipes and h-pipes? What's the diffrence, sound? Is either better than the other? Will I have any problems after installing longtubes (like with idle or anything)? What brands should I be looking at?

Thanks

I am a big Flowmaster fan but, flowmaster is loud.

Best thing I have heard that is not LOUD....would be Bassani.

I would definately get longtubes with a pro chamber with bassani mufflers. Let me find the link of one of the best sounding stangs i have ever heard. It's someone's stang on here maybe someone can identify the video i posted in this next post.

What about Borla? My friend has Borla on his V6 S197, and I know mine won't sound like his (derrr) but it had a nice tone to it... I like Flowmasters too, but I'm sorta tired of the tone. My car has it, my dad's old truck used, his new old truck does, my mom's truck has it, my sister's truck does, my niece's truck does... anyone with exhaust has flowmasters. I just want something nice and smooth, but still def V8 sounding.

Prochamber? What that be?

I have some vague remembrance of Longtubes causing idle issues, but maybe I'm retarded... that ring any bells for anyone? What kind of starter will I need?

Are BBK longtubes good? I've heard about some of their stuff being pretty hit or miss and as much as Longtubes are, I will not be buying more than one set or putting up with returning a set.

Another thing, is ceramic coating worth the extra $$?

I'll have the money I need to do all this the first of the month, so I'd like to get all of it figured out before then so I can gett all my stuff in and installed ASAP.

Yea, that car in taht video actually sounds A LOT like my car, just a hair bit lower tone. But I mean, just barely. That's weird, I've never heard something that close to mine on the web. I have stock headers, with a BBK O/R H-Pipe, and Flowmasters... Wish I had a camera to record it on...

The best mid pipe evAr...lol

I love the Prochamber..here is the difference. The pipes merging into a small rectangular chamber not only helps exhaust pulses scavenge the opposite bank (the pulses are 180 degrees out of phase in a 4 cycle V8) but the gases in the chamber become hotter as the pulses merge, increasing flow. The exhaust sound is awesome.. :eek:ccasion14:

I see. Do they make Longtube prochambers? If anything, at least it won't leak where the H comes together like on mine... :angry7:

Cool beans. My h actually slipped apart today on the way to school... stupid pos. So I took to the exhaust shop and had it weld it up. And woah damn, it so much quiter now. It's like I've been running around with straight pipes emptying beneath my center console, no wonder it was so loud. Well whatever the case, I'm still gonna go with some Longtubes, then prochamber, now just to decide on muffler...

Bassani is louder than Flowmasters from my experneice unless you're running a 1 chamber Flow, and if you want a quiet exhaust don't go with a Prochamber. Go with a catted midpipe for sure, if you want a smooth sound I'd suggest Magnaflow mufflers.

on my 97, i had a upr x pipe with high flow cats, and flowmaster (junk), then later switched to mac. It sounded mint, Im not a big fan of h-pipes, id rather have the raspier x on then the h. But the flowmasters rotted out and sounded terrible with the drone. After I got rid of the gt, one of the first mods I did to the mach was a upr x pipe.
