Well..

I sent the video that I showed you guys to HiTech, to see if they could figure out what the sound sounds like..

Good news! Its not PTV.

However..sounds like it entails to something with the timing..(tensioners, guides..etc..)

I used new(er) chains, new guides, new tensioners..there was one part of the guides (Shaped like a cresent moon?) that didnt come with the guide kit I bought..so I reused my old ones (i didnt have any noise from it anyway..).

I dont even know what could be wrong..whether something is loose, or whatever..but I have a problem.

I have no more money. I'm broke. I live on my own, a college student..and this is my daily driver..I've been bumming my dads old ranger off him for the past two months, and he has to have it back Saturday. Im not even sure I should tell him whats going on with my car. (hes pretty stingy..idk.)

Going into this I just never expected it to be this terrible and long drawn out. I wish I would have thought it through, and had another car I could be driving daily. If that were the case I wouldnt be so worried about it..

So. I have a few options..I can go talk to my bank, try to get a loan increase, or another loan on my current one I have (only 1000 left to pay..) and take it to a dealership or mechanic..have them fix it. (I dont have the garage space, or tools, or time to do this myself. . .Already did it once, cant take it back to where I did it originally).
Or I go talk to the bank, get a loan, find a 1000 dollar car..and just sell my mustang..or part it out..or get a really big loan, a beater, and get my mustang fixed.

Regardless, I dont really know what to do. I wish I had more money. Dont we all?
Any ideas out there?

I know the timing issue isn't too terrible..but that requires the front cover off, and thats just not happening.

PS. I also havent ran the car since I went back and torqued the cam caps back down with an in/lb wrench to 85-90 in lbs. But from what the guys at hitech said, that wouldnt make a difference. I'll try to get it all buttoned up..start it, get a stethoscope(sp) and pinpoint the noise..
Also having a 4.6 "guru" from hitech calling me tomorrow after he watches the video.

Thanks everyone for the help youve all provided..Give me some advice here. :sad5:

Sorry to hear all that man, it sucks when things dont go the way there intended. If I where you I would for sure finish what you have going on and get her started up. You never know, that might fix the problem. If not you can try and pinpoint the noise and maybe get a better idea of whats going on. Don't give up man, what dosnt kill you makes you stronger and smarter. As for getting from point A to B i'd holler at your nieghbor friend

I would check you local paper for cars under $500. I know here in Birmingham we have the under $500 section in the Birmingham news. You might end up getting a beater, but some will last long with regular oil changes.

find a mustang shop that is familiar with the 2v's. It will be a lot cheaper than the dealership and it is probably something small that someone with a trained eye can spot quickly. good luck

if it was me I would tear it back down to the timing and re do it and triple check every thing print off torque specs for every bolt you touch I would also check the cam caps because when you apply 10x the pressure to something than what its rated at they could be flexed a bit making the cams not sit right and that means slop in the chain. and if the people at hi tech told you torqing a bolt to 80 ft lbs when its rated at 80 in lbs shouldn't make a difference then they need to be fired for giving out false information because it makes a hell of a difference especially on soft metals( aluminum).

Im not going to tear this all back down..noooo way. No time, nor patience..or money.
Ill get it bolted back together, see if it runs any better, take it to a few places for advice on what they think

Im noticing that the video really does amplify that noise, its not near THAT loud in person..I dunno.

Like everyone else said tear it apart and redo it. If you absolutely will not fix it yourself, I would say part it out and get yourself a cheap Honda. Save up some money and and get another Mustang but keep your Honda beater. I haven't heard your video so I can't say what I think the problem is. Sounds like it's definitely in the timing though, but I still wouldn't rule out PTV. With cams it's just all too common.

Yeah..I did show the video to Bart from Hitech..he knows PTV, and he says its not PTV.

Its not that I cant tear it apart myself..its just that I really dont want to do it again. It wasnt absolutely horrible doing it, but Im just losing my interest and will power in it. If this wasnt my only car to drive it wouldn't be so bad..Idk.

Problem with Video's is that they sound different and you can't tell where the sound is coming from for sure. You might try contacting modular head shop. Nick has been good about helping me out with information. He can probably get you what ever timing parts you need as well.
