New issue and I wonder if anyone has run into this

Got the car ready to start. Connected the negative to thr battery. Tried to connect the positive, but the starter spun. It did not pull in and engage the flywheel. Ignition switch was off.

This is an engine and wiring harness that all came out of the same car and it was running great. Rechecked our connections and they seem good

TIA

Jim

New problem.

My son and I finished getting the car ready to start. We connected the negative battery terminal up, but when the positive was connected the starter spun. It didn’t engage, but it spun. Key on or off made no difference. We rechecked connections, but they will usually only fit together with another like connector.

Anyone else have something similar?

TIA

Jim

you didn't want a automatic remote start? I would start either checking at the starter/solenoid normally with a new motor in and trace the wires to ensure everything is good going to them but with you having swapped a dash I am not sure that it isn't up in there.

Got a new motor ordered. I guess it’s a good starting place. It’s just everything worked so well before and now ..

I’ll let you know what happens when I replace the starter

Thank again, ttocs

Really, the only thing in the dash that was changed was the outer skin. Using the same wiring it had before. That’s why it has those yellow splice connectors on the wires; that’s the way it was sold to me five years ago

I don't think the starter is bad if its turning. I would suspect that there is a short somewhere first and would just check the wiring at the starter and then maybe in the kick panels or around the ignition to be sure a wire or two did not get pinched.
