hey guys, im back. been dealing with some family issues thats taken up a lot of my time and i finally got a new job, so that too has been taking up my time and i havent been around as much, but im working on it :coolsmiley:

anyways, i had a few questions on a 4v head swap.....

i managed to get a ridiculously awesome deal on a set of 03 cobra heads and 04 mach 1 upper and lower manifold. now, i had been wanting to keep my car 2v n/a, but at the awesome deal i got, i cant turn this down. but here comes my question: if i have assembled 03 heads and JUST the upper and lower mach1 manifolds, what else do i need for the swap? i might be able to get a hold of the COPs for the cobra, and the harness, so i might do a COP conversion, but if not i know i need a 98 timing cover and 98 valve covers. what else would i need? so far i have:

98 cobra intake cams
mach1 coolant crossover tubes
radiator hoses, etc

what else am i missing? (aside from gaskets and such?)

also......i managed to get a hold of a t-56 too.....what do i need, aside from a dallas speedcal and a cobra driveshaft, to make this work with my car? i know it bolts up perfectly, but what about the wiring and the transmission mount, how do i make that work?

thanks in advance,
-xt

welcome back man, thats good that you found 4v parts for cheap, and a t-56. i can't really chime in on 4v swaps. but i think you have to have a new throttle cable because i believe the 2v cable is too short.

thanks man, i think i can manage to get the ones off the cobra or the mach 1 as well, wonder if those will work.

its REALLY hard to do this swap.... takes along time and you need alot of parts that will cost enough to make it expensive

yo xavier :) glad to hear you got alot of stuff for pretty cheap! i had a document list of all the parts needed to do a 2v-> 4v head swap but since i reformated i dont have it but i can see what i remember / look up.

for the t-56 i hope it has the mechanical speedo gear installed or capability. if not hope you can just swap your speedo reader in and the speedo works properly lol. but for it to mount up, you'll need a 96-98 Cobra Transmission Crossmember (because it's adjustable). you can cut your existing driveshaft and make it shorter so you dont "have" to buy a new driveshaft or just get a shorter yoke. i have the short yoke (26 spline) off an 03 Cobra Driveshaft if you want it. you dont necessarily need a dallas speedcal, you could just get the correct speedo teeth gear which online has the corrrect one for your application depending on transmission & final gear ratio.

one thing you may encounter also is that if you have subframe connectors (depending on brand), a 96-98 Trans-Crossmember may interfere with it.

i believe he already has the cobra crossmember, but man jeed i haven't seen posts from you in forever, dude your new sig is badass, sorry to highjack xavier, good luck with your swap, i also think you have to extend a few wires on the engine harness. like the tempature sensors and i'm not 100% sure but the plug that goes to the ac and the other plug down there that goes into the power steering pump i believe or wherever the second plug goes down there its been a long time since i've done anything down there so i forgot. :hammer:

yup, i already have the 98 cobra transmission in my car and the 98 cobra crossmember mounts, which has been modified to work with the full length subframes. i was wondering if i could use the cobra mounts or if i was gonna have to fab something up, but its good to know that one works. im halfway there!!! hahaha

as for the speedo, i wasnt sure if i could just swap out the speedo readers, but if i can that would be awesome. the t56 came with the 26spline input shaft, but since i just put this clutch in back in november and its a 10 spline, im gonna see if i can get a factory 10spline to use for the time being until this clutch wears out.

as for the head swap, that one is going to be a little time consuming and i gotta do a lot of research on that one, i need to find out exactly what i need to get and what i would need to replace. my friend in his mach is going an eaton swap, so any N/A parts i need off his car are mine already provided he doesnt need them.
