I was driving home last night and when I hit the gas, my battery voltage would spike pretty hard. If I let off the gas for a few seconds, it would go back to normal, but spike again if I touched the gas. I babied it and made it back but it got me worried. Any thoughts?

And today I filled the overflow tank because that was really low, and I started it up and now the battery light is on whenever the car is running, though the voltage is in the normal range. And now when the car is idling it knocks pretty steadily.

Sounds to me like the alt. is already done.. I don't trust them dummy stock gauges... Since the light is staying on, the alt is not charging the battery and that's all you're running off of..

I agree with eveyone else, cuz I'm helpful like that, lol.

Seriously, the regulator let go, and they tend to pump about 17-18 volt's into the batt when they do, which is very bad, mmkay.
