I believe my alternator is going bad...on the way home last night i had to get it jumped and then my lights and dash started to slowly shut off. Im pretty sure it is the alternator...is it hard to do it yourself? i really dont want to pay for labor

Another 'guess what car I'm talking about' thread! Awesome. :)

Shouldn't be too bad. My 94 takes about 15 minutes to swap. Most places will test it for free if you remove it.

depends on the car/engine.

1996 4.6L V8 will take about 15 minutes. 2004 4.6L V8 S/C will take about an hour or two. depending on tools and amount of beer.

Easy. Are you capable of taking the belt off, removing bolts, bolting new alternator in and putting the belt back on?

Buy a haynes manual.

Come to find out that my alternator was fine as well as the battery, just needed to be charged but something is still draining the battery. I have a gut feeling its the alarm system and a short relay but have no idea where that could be? Help? Suggestions? Sorry that i dont know this shes my first pony car

look at the aux and interior lights ie: sun visor, glove box, trunk light, hood light.
All should be off normally.

Start pulling fuses out. Put a volt-meter across them and find out which circuit is causing the drain... and then go from there.
