Just out of curiosity, does anyone make a catted H-pipe? Specifically for the 96-98s? I've seen catted x-pipes, and i know BBK makes a catted shorty H-pipe, I've even found catted H-pipes from MRT but they're only for 99's and up, but seems like no one really makes a standard catted H for the 96-98...

What do folks do who live in places with heavy emission restrictions, mostly go with catted x-pipes or swap on the stock H?

I have a mac catted H pipe in my basement. I dont think mac makes them anymore.
I only know of the mrt catted h like you said above. I only seen them on new edge stangs though :angry7:
Maybe you can get lucky and find a older catted h pipe for 96-98's on craiglist/ebay.

Or you could buy a cheap hpipe and have some highflows welded on.

:dontknow: I think i brought my mac catted h pipe back in 2006 directly from mac before they stopped making them ..

No, MAC was having too many warranty problems with their supplier CATCO and decided it would be best to discontinue all catted products.

I was looking for a catted H but couldn't find one I wanted. I ended up with an SLP catted X from AM and I'm happy with it. It's designed to work with stock manifolds, which I have now or long tube headers, which I will be getting eventually.

i run a high flow catted H on my 95. i know you said 96-98 in your post. but dont they fit the same? also i have no idea who made it but it is a full 2.5 H made for stock style headers and i love it. i can cruise around without being loud but when i get on it the sounds there.

Nope, the 94-95's (foxs too) have 2 bolt ball flanges on both manifolds. The 96-04's 2v & 4v have a 2 bolt ball flange on the drivers side and a special oval 2 bolt flange with gasket on the pass. side.

yeah, I believe I've seen H-pipes for the 95s... I think I've pretty much found H-pipes for every year with the exception of 96-98s. Oh well. Might have to go with an x.

Don't go the X route if its not the sound your looking for. If you want the h have it custom made. Get a mac o/r h and have some hi-flows welded on =]

Not a bad option at all, if you do this I would recommend carsound converters. They are made by Magnaflow and are what we use b/c of their great quality and warranty if anything does go south.
