So I did a 5-speed conversion in my 1995 mustang GT a couple weeks ago. Well I left the automatic computer in it because at the time I couldnt find a computer at a good price. when my car was cold it acted horrible but once it warmed up it ran fine. Well I just got a 5-speed computer in it today and there is no difference. I thought it would act better but it skips when i start it up and wants to turn off Etc. could this be the O2 sensors? I know that they can take a huge toll if not taken care of, but to better describe how the car acts, when i first start it up it doesnt want to run so i revive it up to keep it running but its like it doesnt respond to the gas sometimes, when once im driving it, it barely goes. I can have it too the floor and nothing... but like i stated it runs fine after its warmed up.. i just thought the 5-speed computer would fix all this

can some of yall give me ideas?

Brand new spark plugs and wires
rotary bottom
fuel is fine

I would start with the O2 sensors then. Sounds like what happened to mine when they decided to go crazy lol

start checking sensors, idle air, maf, when it starts it runs off the computer preset but when its warm the sensors adjust things, also ck for vaccum leaks

Try cleaning the MAF and check the tps voltage. I have seen a lot of cars do the same exact thing, I clean the maf for them and its fixed in 10 minutes. Get some sensor safe cleaner and some Q tips and be careful.
Also with the change to the manual computer, the only real difference is that now the computer will not pull timing when it feels it should shift. So the car should feel much better when you get this running issue fixed.

Everyone right, the O2s will not cause an issue til it warms up. Mine does the same thing until it warms up. Im still digging to the bottom of mine. I just cleaned my MAF and TB and it is still doing it. I think it has something to do with the ignition system and moisture.

A vacuum leak wouldnt cause it to stop once its warmed up.

Also I have no codes and mine is manual from the factory.

On the 95s you can pull codes without a scanner. That's a good deal for one though.

I will kaitlyn. I'm annoyed with mine doing it but I rarely don't let it get to temp before driving it.

Isn't there a specific computer relearning procedure? Something simple like letting idle for ten minutes after a battery disconnect and then a small drive keeping speeds at or above 30mph. Im probaly way off on the exact numbers but if you research it you'll probally find exact procedure.

the relearn you speak of use to work for idle and tps
when my 95 was all wonky after part install i would disconnect the battery for the night ...
some people swear you need to touch the neg and pos cables together from the wiring but i havent a clue why.
then i would plug it back up in the morn and let it idle for 15 to 20 minutes and all good.
worked for a couple of fords i have worked on

I know it sounds odd, but I would bet its a vacuum leak somewhere. I've dealt with this on several cars before and it always turns out to be a vacuum leak. The car I went through this on, would shut off when it was cold. I could start it and it would turn over and then immediately sputter and shut off. I had to turn it over and then hold the gas down till it warmed up. Once it was warm, all was well. Occasionally as it got worse, I would get a miss here and there but nothing crazy, before I replaced the hose. On the last car, I spent about $800 on parts I thought it was. Eventually I was so pissed I just tore it down to the head, and wouldn't you know it, a hose from the oil separator to the dipstick tube had melted from the engine heat.

So vacuum leaks can be a PITA to find sometimes, even with a can of Carb spray, but they sure are cheap to fix. The hose could be cracked so when the engine is cold, the crack is open more. As the engine heats and VAC hose rises in temp, it may have enough life left to seal it up bit, which is why you aren't getting a misfire when your warm. I would start checking hoses. Bend them as well, if they feel dry and show cracks when you bend them, replace them.
