Are these worth the time/effort? Thinking of installing them. I see LMR has MRT and Redline, either?

I put a set of MRT ones on a few weeks ago after they were sitting in the garage for about a year.

They're nice. No downsides that I've observed thus far.

Thanks. I see MRT aren't for Cervini hoods so I'll have to go Redline. Guess I'll give them a try.

Redline is what’s on my hood. Guy finally dropped off the struts and haven’t got them bolted on yet. Appear nice quality

I put the MRT struts on my car recently, had been wanting them for years but would never spend the money for them. I love them, wish I had done it the first time I thought of it and didn't have to work around the prop rod as much as I did. No ragrets here.

I danced around with them, but ultimately I d coded against using them. I've seen them not work out on fiberglass hoods.

I don’t trust their lifespan. I have had to replace the lift support struts for my 94’s trunk twice. Once in 2004 and again in 2014. For some reason, I really haven’t needed to in 2024, and still don’t. Basically I wait until it’s difficult to keep open. When it falls on your head, it hurts!!! And that’s just a trunk lid, not a hood.

Now then, the hood prop isn’t reliable either. You get a sudden gust of wind, and it’ll lift up the hood high enough to become free from the prop, then slam close on you, your tools, whatever. It’s actually harder to reopen, as the hood prop is still up, sticking out between your closed hood and fender. And yes, there’s cosmetic damage.

But back on dependability. My first car was a 1988 BMW 325i. It used gas shocks for the hood, the trunk, AND the convertible boot. So NONE of them worked until I finally replaced them. I would have a specific non traditional prop for the trunk and one for the hood. The convertible boot was way too difficult with a prop, so it was really a two person job (convertible top was manual.)

Thanks for all the reply's and I have decided to do it. I've had strut rods, that I installed on my Cobra (not Mustang) when I built it. That was 26yrs ago and I've been through about 3 sets on the hood and one on the trunk. I built it so they all took the same strut. I understand the wind part but when that happens, my hoods stay down. I'll see how this goes and go from there. The only crappy part would be having the riveted brackets on the hood if I have to go back to the strut. Or, I could do nutserts and at least be able to remove the brackets. The more I think about it, the nutserts sound better.
