I hate to say it, but the insurance company will probably only pay the price of a stock hood. Unless you have the customization endorsement on your policy.

Also for future reference I would talk to them about the OEM endorsement that makes them put on Factory parts not aftermarket or used parts.

that sucks! had that happen to my pos car last summer, but my hood was latched! you'll just have to talk to the insurance person to figure out about it not being a stock hood, sometimes they'll replace it with the same, but a lot of times they will try for the stock hood.

my deductible is 500 i will do the paint my self. but it ended up hitting my windshield in case made the windshield hit my dash hard enough to crack it, in two spots. here is a hood i found i wanted.

http://pensacola.craigslist.org/pts/1839742416.html

he wants 200 for it now. so i should at least be able to get the hood, get it painted and get a new windshield.

I always liked those too. What kind of damage did it do to he cowl behind the hood? When I have seen it happened it always seemed like it did the most damage there.

Ouch! that sucks man. I've seen a handful of hoods fly up man. I'll never run a non-stock hood w/o them

Get a hood with a steel latch and you shouldn't need hood pins. the Cobra R hood from Ford Racing is like $525. All HO Fibertrend hoods have steel latches.

That sucks man, most of the guys I know w/ hood pins put the clips back in the pins so that they have to take them back out to close the hood. Forces them to remember to put em back in.

Show them the cervini's piece. they sell a 2.5" version. they won't know the difference.
As far as needing a "custom" policy, no. trust me, if you bitch enough, they'll cave in. Maybe if you're trying to make some claim on an outrageous custom they will give you problems, but not over a hood.

For quality, H.O. Fibertrends ftw.
