they were leaking from the hoses, but i fixed that right away, lol i put it all together then saw the hose clamps on the ground beside me, they should be pressure hoses i took them form work and they were oil line, but ya ill add some oil after work 2morrow and let you know how it turns out. The pressure shouldnt drop like a rock though should it at 5000

I would drain the oil, put a fresh 4 quarts in and 1 bottle of Lucas oil stabalizer.

If you added an oil cooler without adding oil then, then you're prolly gonna be low. Thats more piping and the cooler that takes oil. Unless I'm just an idiot and not understanding waht you're talking about, that should be it.

Most cars burn oil when they are older. The more you give WOT, the more oil you burn. I burnt 1/2 litre of oil last change and my brother blew 1 litre before that, but he drives like a maniac. Not bad for a car with 214km...

Sometimes I burn through a quart before changes sometimes I don't, really depends on how I drive the car.

so i fired it up again and ran it to full temp and low oil again, i stuck my finger in the exhaust pipe and it came out wet and black so im going to bring home a compression tester and check that, is their anything else i should check? man if its the rings, thats going to be a bitch to fix, i'd go with a stroker if thats the case but anyways what should i check right now?

How many miles on this one? What oil weight are you using? Climate?

Double check for leaks while it's idling. Your using more synthetic because the molecules in synthetic are all more uniform in size when compared to conventional oils.

You might consider going back to a conventional or a synthetic blend oil like Motorcraft. That can slow your oil consumption some. If your in a colder climate use a 5W-30 and switch to a 10W-30 for the summer months. This will also slow the oil consumption in the warmer months. Your still gonna need the 5 weight in the winter so the oil pressure will build up quicker at start-up. Saves the rings.

Depending on what kind of #'s you get on the compression check (3 times / cyl.), try some Restore. Good for the cylinder walls.

Good Luck, GT
